Here's a mini guide on how to write a PGN game review! Just remember, this is just a mini guide, you get to add your own style as well! All of our game reviews are divided into 6 sections and the total word count should be more than 1,000 words so please keep that in mind! Have fun!

Intro

This is the first section that you'll write it could either make the user click on your game review or click on something else! Your first sentence should always be the name of the game, who's developing it and who's publishing it. If it's a sequel or a prequel to another game then please include the name of that game as well.

First Impressions

This section's all about your first impressions. You can pretty much talk about anything here but here's a couple of guide questions to help you out!

  • What did you experience right after the game started? Was there a nice cut scene? How was it? Did it remind you of something like from a previous game?
  • Can you change any game settings? For example, can you change your keyboard and mouse settings? How about video and audio settings?
  • Is there a separate tutorial for this game? How do you exactly start the game?
  • Since this is your first time playing the game, how was it? How's the learning curve?

Singleplayer

If the game has a singleplayer mode then talk about it in this section. Here's a couple of guide questions to help you out!

  • Is there a plot? Were you able to understand what was going on while you were playing the game?
  • Are there any cut scenes? Is it animated or does it consist of real actors/actresses? If it's the latter, how's their voice acting?
  • Are there several singleplayer modes available?
  • How easy/hard is singleplayer? Can you adjust the difficulty setting? Do you have to do it before you start the game or can you change it while playing the game?
  • Are you going to play singleplayer again if ever? Talk about the games replayability here.

Multiplayer

If the game has a multiplayer mode then talk about it in this section. Here's a couple of guide questions to help you out!

  • How do you find a multiplayer game? Can you join existing ones or you can only join multiplayer games that are about to start.
  • Are there several multiplayer modes available? Are they the same as multiplayer or they're different?
  • How's your multiplayer experience? Was it totally different from singleplayer?

Final Thoughts

This section should be pretty self-explanatory. Here's a couple of guide questions to help you out!

  • How was the game for you as a gamer?
  • Did you enjoy the game?
  • Are you going to play it again?
  • Would you recommend the game to a fellow gamer?
  • If the game is not free, would you buy it? If you will are you going to buy a collector's edition?

Ratings

The Ratings section is divided into three sub-sections. You then rate each of them from 0 to 5, 5 being the highest and 0 being absolutely worthless.

Graphics

How's the graphics? Does the game look awful even if you have the best hardware available during the time that you were playing the game?

Sound

Talk about the background music, voice acting, and sound effects in this section.

Gameplay

This section's a mini-summary of your Final Thoughts.
