What is Ban Evasion?
A player will be banned under Ban Evasion if their previous ban was not removed or if their IP address falls under one of PGN's Octets rule.
Frequently Asked Questions
The player has the same IP range as someone that has been previously banned, do I ban the player?
If we were still using the same old Steam IDs before then yes would be the answer but now we have four different Steam IDs depending on which client they use.
Octets Rule
- STEAM_0:0: - Treat as a different person even if you know it's the same player. If they are not cheating anymore then give them a free pass until they cheat again or violate any of our rules.
- STEAM_0:1: - Treat as a different person even if you know it's the same player. If they are not cheating anymore then give them a free pass until they cheat again or violate any of our rules.
- STEAM_1:0: - Do not ban unless three/four octets match. You need to verify the location of the IP as well.
- STEAM_1:1: - Do not ban unless two/three octets match. You need to verify the location of the IP as well.
Please note that an octet can't be banned for Ban Evasion unless the very first ban for that octet has a ban reason other than Ban Evasion. This applies even if you are 100% sure that the player who just came back is the same player.
What can I use to verify IP locations?
You can go to What Is My IP Adress? to check an IP's location.
