Adding a new image category

PGN uses JoomGallery to manage its massive collection of image files. This tutorial will show you how to add a new image gallery as per PGN's specifications.

Creating a new gallery

Head over to Components -> JoomGallery -> Category Manager and then click New.

Populating the category details

There's four things that you need to populate when you create a new image gallery - Title, Description, Metadata Description, and Metadata Keywords.

Title and Alias

Make sure that every first letter is capitalized unless it's specified by the game developer/publisher. Make sure that the Published is set to Yes. Leave Alias blank. Most of the time you'll be creating an image gallery for a specific game so leave Parent Category blank as well.

Description

When adding game descriptions, make sure that you edit it in Notepad first before you paste it in the description box. If you don't do that, it will have non-friendly HTML characters. In order to eliminate the non-friendly HTML characters, we must paste by Notepad (highlighted in green) File:Joomgallery_category_pasting_the_description.png‎ using the following toolbar.

  • Make sure that you bold the title of the game when you paste the game description.
  • If you're pasting from Wikipedia, make sure that you remove the citations ([1], [2], etc.) since they are not needed.

Metadata Information

Just copy/paste the first paragraph of the game description to the Metadata Description box. The Metadata Keywords should consist of the game title and the game developer/publisher.
